Anyone, wanting to contact me in person pertaining to the kittens I found on I-75 on my way to the VA Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, fee free to call me (Bill Bartholome at (419) 645-5243. These were kittens that I gave to a Higway Patrolman at the one of the Troy, Ohio, exits around 2 p.m. September 30, 2008. The trooper took the kittens to Miami County Ohio Animal Shelter (a member of SPCA). After leaving the VA Hospital I returned to the Miami County Animal Shelter at 4 p.m. When I asked two ladies at the animal shelter about the kittens they told me that the kittens had been destroyed. In less than two hours the kittens had been destroyed. I'm looking for a humane animal activist organization to help back me up in letting the Miami County Ohio Animal Shelter know that what they did was wrong. Those defenseless kitten were not given a chance to live. That wasn't right what they did and I want support letting them know that they did wrong. Thanks to anyone that can come to my aide.

I originally said the incident with the kittens happened September 31 (there is no September 31). WhatI meant to say was September 30, 2008.

Tuesday, September 31, 2008, I was traveling south on I-75 on my way to the VA Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, when I spotted a blue plastic storage container laying on its side along the side of the road. I stopped to see if the unlided container was still usable and I was shocked to find six kittens huddled up inside. I put the plastic container and the kittens in my car. I continued on south on I-75 and a mile down the road from where I picked up the kittens I met a state trooper. The trooper asked that I meet him at the next exit (Troy, Ohio) at a Speedway filling station. The trooper called the Miami County Ohio Animal Shelter near Troy, Ohio, and the people there said they would not take the kittens. The troopers superior told him to take the kittens there anyways. That was around 2 p.m.

As I was returning from my appointment at the VA Hospital in Dayton, at 4 p.m. I decided to stop in at the Miami County Ohio Animal Shelter to check on the kittens that I had rescued. A lady working there told me that the kittens had already been destroyed. I was thinking of adopting one of the six kittens but they had all been put to death within two hours of the time that I had rescued them. I've been trying every since to get an answer or help from any animal organization to explain to me why the Miami County Ohio Animal Shelter was so quick to destroy these innocent defenseless animals. It doesn't make sense to advertise that this particular animal shelter is connected with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and then find out that within two-hours the kittens were completely destroyed. It was a total nightmare for me to find out what happen to those kittens. I was really distraught on my way home that evening. I just don't feel it was right for those kittens to be instantly destroyed. I stopped by to check on the kittens on my way back home. I was hopeing to even adopt one of the kittens. Something should be done about an SPCA member that is an abuser itself. What do you think? I've been sending mail to everyone I can think of to make them aware of my episode with Miami County's animal shelter. Who can I talk to (lawmaker, etc.) at the State Capital in Columbus, Ohio, to get action against the people that run the animal shelter? I would appreciate some help!
